Letter from TNV President (2)

Tourism Nicola Valley

Dear Merritt Tourism Businesses,

It's the time of the year when we celebrate the remarkable progress and initiatives that our tourism community has accomplished this year in Merritt. Your commitment to enhancing the visitor experience has truly positioned Merritt as a tourism destination on the move. As we look forward to 2024, we are excited to continue working on expanding our tourism seasons, increasing the average length of stay for travelers, and enhancing our adventure opportunities for locals.

Merritt and the Nicola Valley will be well represented by a Tourism Information Rest Area (formerly known as Gasoline Alley) with a digital sign educating the traveler, and directing them to our downtown and adventure destinations throughout the region. The Community Sightseeing App will compliment the sign by educating and enticing visitors to create custom tours and explore our unique town.

The bus tours are coming! We will soon see our bus weaving through the charming streets of Merritt and highlighting the hidden gems of Merritt and the TNRD. It is one of our many commitments to showcase our town's rich culture and history.

The Adventure Centre, located in Downtown Merritt, will become a feature destination. It will stand tall as a beacon for thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts, offering a hub for excitement and connecting travelers with the breathtaking landscapes and adrenaline-pumping activities Merritt has to offer. It will attract visitors to Downtown Merritt and extend stays in our accommodations.

We are determined to create a 4-season tourism economy by working with the Merritt Snowmobile Club, the Nicola Nordic Ski Club and the Nicola Valley Snowshoeing Club and other winter activity groups. Our goal is to expand winter tourism infrastructure into adventure wonderlands, creating unforgettable experiences for snowmobiling, ice fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing enthusiasts.

The improvements to the mountain biking trails have been a testament to innovation, teamwork and dedication. The trails now offer an exhilarating journey through our natural areas exploring lakes, dissecting forests and downloading on single track mountains. TNV and the Merritt Mountain Biking Association looks forward to attracting biking enthusiasts from far and wide in 2024.

As we work alongside the various groups to expand our attractions and grow our four seasons we celebrate the efforts and achievements of all of the groups during the holiday season, it is essential to recognize the positive impact they have had on our community. The passion for showcasing Merritt's beauty and offerings has been a gift that keeps on giving, drawing visitors, and fostering a sense of pride among locals.

As we step into a new year, let us continue to flourish, be creative, work together and shine brightly, captivating hearts and creating unforgettable memories. Let us all be grateful, and take great pride, in where we live, work and play.

Wishing you all a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and the magic of the season.

Warm regards,

Melvina White
